The “Toadstool Salesman” was an anthropomorphic toad and one of the core merchants of the Interdimensional Black Market. He sold “curse toadstools”, mushrooms of various colours with magical qualities. His repertoire included orange mushrooms, as well as white mushrooms which he claimed were a favourite purchase of the Queen of the Black Market herself. He also had the ability to leap great heights, in line with his species.

Biography

The Toadstool Salesman was present in the Black Market in 2019 when Tracker-764 and Darius first visited it. Before they were exposed as outsiders, Darius looked through the Salesman's wares and had him explain them to him. However, he ultimately didn't buy any, reasoning that they probably wouldn't work on Clockwork Cherubs. Later, he tried to make himself useful in the chase as Darius and Tracker tried to escape the wraiths, throwing exploding orange toadstools after them. However, Tracker managed to throw a Wraith at the Salesman, sending him tumbling backwards. As he dropped all his toadstools at once, they created a huge explosion that damaged multiple stalls. Under unknown circumstances, the Toadstool Salesman poisoned “a few” customers without paying the requisite fee to the Queen of the Black Market. After this was discovered, to curry favour once again, he gave her a prototype for a virtual white curse toadstool that worked on digital entities for free. The Queen would later summarise these events to Wendy VII at Hilbert's when she used the virtual curse toadstool on a Temp attacking Wendy's phone. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel)

The Toadstool Salesman was one of the denizens of the Black Market who temporarily relocated to the Interdimensional Tavern on April the 1st, 2021 on the basis of a letter allegedly from the Queen of the Black Market, but which had actually been forged by the Faction of the Fooling Fish; indeed, he appeared to have been the one who originally received the letter. After advertising his own wares, the toad-man took charge of an auction, selling a singing rug, a plastic lawn flamingo, and the Interdimensional Tavern’s own octopus statue. Even after he was told the truth about the letter, the Toadstool Salesman was reluctant to leave the Tavern, but was driven to by Alistair Neezley beginning to shout about his adventures.
