Buranda

Buranda is in Africa, on the Atlantic coast

Buranda was an African country in at least one universe, Reality Z-25 31-H; it was once part of the British equatorial territories in Africa, on the Atlantic coast, and even in the 21st century, British Commissioner Smedley Hopkirk and his assistant George Wimberly were still employed there.

Rich in dense jungles, striking mountains, and improbable adventuring locations, the country was home to the Naked Jungle, located close to the village of the Natari tribe, and home to adventurers such as Kaza, Gwenna, (COMIC: The Serpent Sorceress) and Nula. (COMIC: The Danger, The Diamond, and the Dowager)

Conventionally, the Kogana river was navigable for a good distance inland, and the country shared a border with Zamunda. (COMIC: Up the River) The Natari village was located close to the Temple of the Serpent God; a little further away was a kraal near “Buranda Pass” which was most often patrolled by the Commissioner. Somewhere in the area was the Obelisk of Rangora, a mystic artifact possessing plot-relevant powers of transportation. (COMIC: Wonderella Drops by the Jungle, etc)

There was also an entrance to the Earth's core, which was generally known to, and avoided by, the adventuring populace. (COMIC: Crisis Down the Yellow Brick Road)
