Why Doth Love Sting So? was a four-panel The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids comic written and drawn by Aristide Twain. It was the first of its kind, and also notable for introducing the character of Colonel-028, who would go on to remain a recurring secondary character in the series.

Plot
A young Cupid is listening to Colonel-028 telling tall tales about his adventures in the earlier days of the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids. He eventually asks a serious question: why do the Crew, who claim to be all about peace and love, use arrows in the first place? Unperturbed, the Colonel answers with an absurdist pun: allegedly, they use arrows because they don't want the love they hand out to be pointless.
