A version of the Addams Family existed in the home universe of the Lich Emperor Junter and his Vampire assistant Ibdis. When the hapless pair found themselves in need of a new apartment, Ibdis visited the Addams Mansion and were greeted by Morticia, Cousin It and Thing. Thing jumped at Ibdis and startled him, and they were ultimately unable to come to an arrangement. (COMIC: Real Estate-Related Pun)

- See main article: Thing (Wednesday and the Doctor)
In a universe where Wednesday Addams attended Nevermore Academy, Thing was one of the members of the Addams who came to Wednesday's mind when she considered the people she couldn't abandon by running off with the Doctor. (PROSE: Wednesday and the Doctor)
Behind the scenes
Thing is a major (copyrighted) character in The Addams Family, a series which has gone through many official adaptions and continuities. In the original newspaper cartoons and 1960s TV series, Thing was a mysterious, extradimensional entity whose hand could poke out of any box or container in the Addams Mansion, the rest of whose body was purportedly too horrible to be witnessed. In the 1990s Barry Sonnenfeld movies, the concept was simplified to Thing being an animate disembodied hand, as seen in Real Estate-Related Pun; furthermore, Morticia Addams is drawn to resemble actress Anjelica Huston's portrayal in those movies. Thus, it seems the Thing who appears in Real Estate-Related Pun is intended to be a version of Christopher Hart's version of Thing in the 1990s movies.
