Mary, better-known as “the Bartender”, was the owner and operator of the Red Lion Inn, a notorious interdimensional inn.

When Jenny Everywhere frantically took refuge into the Inn with Glendalf through the gateway in Faerie as they fled from the Wild Hunt, the Bartender announced her presence to Jenny by telling a bad joke about Achilles (who, awkwardly enough, was himself in the room, though he was busy arm-wrestling with Gilgamesh).
