In many realities, Doctor Watson was a 19th century physician and biographer and the lifelong associate of the detective Sherlock Holmes.
Biography
In the Prime Universe

In the “Prime Universe”, Doctor Watson was a real person who resided in the late 19th century at 221B Baker Street with Sherlock Holmes, with Mrs Hudson as their landlady. On December the 24th, 1895, he persuaded Holmes to hold and take part in a Christmas dinner, to which Mrs Hudson, Sherlock's brother, Inspector Lestrade and Sexton Blake, among others, were invited. Jenny Over-There once received a call from Dawn 2218's version of “Dr. John Watson”, asking after the location of Sherlock Holmes.
