Wednesday and the Doctor was a short story written by Bastian in 2023. A fan fiction, it crossed over the Netflix series Wednesday with the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who. It was the second story of a trilogy called Strange Encounters, the third of which featured Jenny Everywhere.

Plot
Wednesday Addams is walking through the woods, ruminating on who her stalker might be, when she encounters the Eleventh Doctor. He claims to be “making sure the trees are the right height” but Wednesday knows better, and point-balnk asks if he is here about the Weeping Angel. He admits as much, and, intrigued at her immunity to the psychic paper, agrees to show her the interior of his Ship, where she has a series of visions about his other selves. The TARDIS detects evidence of other Wednesdays in multiple universes and the Doctor speculates that was why the Angel targeted her. He offers her the chance to travel with him but she declines and they go their separate ways.
Worldbuilding
Universes
- The story takes place in the Strange Encounters universe, which mashes up elements of Wednesday and Doctor Who.
- The Doctor uses the TARDIS to track some of Wednesday Addams's counterparts in other universes, including one where she burnt down a summer camp, one where she is an adult who exacted over-the-top revenge on some catcallers, and one where an unusually soft Wednesday fell in love with a normal boy and tried to become normal as well to woo him, “while singing about it”.
Other
- The Doctor is in his eleventh incarnation and wears a bow tie and tweed jacket. He uses his sonic screwdriver to check for traces of the Weeping Angel. He mentions that he is a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. He travels in his TARDIS, a name which stands for “Time and Relative Dimension in Space”.
- Due to the Doctor's accent, Wednesday thinks he may be a relative of Larissa Weems who has flown in for her funeral.
Continuity
- The story follows on from the events of PROSE: Wednesday and the Weeping Angel, which featured Wednesday Addams's original encounter with a Weeping Angel.
- The trilogy was subsequently completed by PROSE: Wednesday and the Shifter, where Jenny Everywhere allowed Wednesday to meet two of the three counterparts described here. She referenced her encounter with the “strange man in a blue box”, whom Jenny knew.
Behind the scenes
Background
The story originally ended with Wednesday accepting the Doctor's offer but this was changed due to being out of character for her.
