Plot
Dandy-432 has dragged Foreman-964 to a “forest of Christmas trees” in the Prime Universe to find a suitable tree and bring it back to his house in the Cupid Homeworld. Though Foreman is less than enthusiastic, Dandy proves cheerfully immovable on the matter, and needs Foreman's physical strength to chop down the tree. Dandy suggests a small, living-room-friendly tree, which rather underwhelms Foreman, though he cuts it all the same. As the two are dragging the tree to Dandy-432's Fog Ship, they find the gate they entered through closed, when it was open before; they are hailed by the farmer who owns this plantation, but manage to make it over the gate and run into the distance before he can stop them from making off with the little tree, albeit a little sheepishly.
Worldbuilding
Universes
- The story takes place in the Prime Universe.
Continuity
- The Cupids' discovery of Christmas traditions sets itself within the framework established by PROSE: The Frost King's Treasure with the “Festival of Giving” organised by Celebration-665.
- Allusion is made to Foreman-964's usual M.O. of warehouse-building, initially established in PROSE: Acquaintanceship-982 and the Missing Mail Mystery.
- The story may be interpreted as a prequel to GAME: Cupid Christmas Tree, where a nondescript Cupid was attempting to decorate a Christmas tree, noting that the tradition was new to them.
