After being forcibly separated from the Doctor, Rose Tyler spent decades living in one dimension known colloquially as Pete's World. However, she outlived all her loved ones there, having been turned immortal by the Bad Wolf incident. Jenny Everywhere eventually found her and brought her back to her own universe to be reunited with the Doctor, believing that it would be “better for everyone” if they travelled together once more. (PROSE: Shifting)

Behind the scenes

As the scenario presented in PROSE: Shifting was presented by the story's author as an “AU” relative to the “official” Doctor Who universe, it follows that although sharing its name, the Pete's World seen in Shifting is not the same Pete's World seen in official Doctor Who media, but rather a parallel version of it, identical to it up until Rose's involvement with its history.
