Fairy Godmother, or occasionally Fairy Godfather, was the role of a benevolent figure in various fairy tales. The literality and significance of the name varied from one tale, and one actual universe, to the next.
A Fairy Godmother famously played a part in the story of Cinderella. There were many versions of the tale which played out with a young version of Jenny as Cinderella, and an older, more experienced incarnation of Jenny as the Fairy Godmother.
