Souls were the supernatural essence of a living or sentient being, although the specific rules that governed them varied from one universe to another.

Some Demons were interested in purchasing souls. In one universe, Jenny Everywhere's boyfriend David once sold his soul to a Hellhound, (COMIC: My Bloody Valentine) but earned it back after performing a valorous deed. (COMIC: Soulless Mate) In Reality Z-25 31-H, Kelly sold her soul to the Devil, signing a contract stipulating as much, in exchange for him allowing her to return to the land of the living with a resurrected Jenkins. The Devil was taken aback by the cavalier attitude with which Kelly traded away the said soul. (COMIC: Journey Out Of Misery)

One of Alistair Neezley's tall tales, which he repeated almost every year around the Christmas period, involved him claiming that he had substituted himself to the Ghost of Christmas Past as part of an adventure which saw him “save the immortal soul of a sentient polar bear”. (PROSE: The Winter Quests)

In Reality B-89 54-Z, according to legend, the souls of the dead literally flew up into Outer Space upon death. This led Jenny Everywhere, Grandmother Ginger and Old Mother Westwind to try to fly out into space aboard the Wisp when they sought to resurrect Ginger's niece. (PROSE: The Apocryphal Journeys of Jenny Everywhere)
