The Lurigadawne of Tipperary, or simply the Lurigadawne, was a legendary Leprechaun who existed in many universes including Dimension 77, where he was familiar with Jenny Everywhere.

Description

Personality

Jenny Everywhere thought of her Leprechaun friend as “wily”. (PROSE: Family Business) She knew that he was sometimes in a bad mood and that it was a good idea to bring him some gold if she needed something from him, even if he already technically owed her the favour. Like most Leprechauns, he was stingy and preferred to mend his own shoes and clothes rather than pay for new ones. (PROSE: The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere)

Powers & abilities

The Lurigadawne of Tipperary was a member of the Fae, and, as such, a powerful magic user, being notably capable of casting a complex magical glamour which concealed the entrance to his home from the outside world and took Jenny hours to unravel even knowing it was there. Like most Leprechauns of a certain age, he was supernaturally good at fixing and making shoes as a result of having spent so many centuries mending his own. Additionally, he wielded a magic sword. Biography

In Dimension 77

In Dimension 77, in the year 1876, a 874-year-old Lurigadawne was captured by a “two-bit black magician” who trapped him in an iron cage. He was rescued by Jenny Everywhere, meaning he now owed her three wishes. She used the first to ask him to create the perfect pair of shoes for her, which he gladly did, much to her subsequent satisfaction. She then decided to keep her other two wishes in reserve for a rainy day, and they parted ways. (PROSE: The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere)

In 2022, Jenny lost her shoes during her adventure on Nowhere Island, and resolved to travel to the present-day Dimension 77 to try and find the Leprechaun again. (PROSE: Family Business) After she arrived, a boy from the area near Thurles reported to her that although there were many legends about the Lurigadawne, concurring that the meadow they were standing was his home, he hadn't been seen in a long time. Jenny managed to find the magically-concealed entrance to the Lurigadawne's underground home, but found only a Brownie who was hosue-sitting for him in payment for an old debt owned by her clan to the Lurigadawne, and didn't know where he had gone. (PROSE: The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere)

Behind the scenes

The Lurigadawne as depicted in The Interlude of Jenny Everywhere stems from his brief description in the public-domain 1888 book Irish Wonders, which states that he “wears an antique slashed jacket of red, with peaks all round and a jockey cap, also sporting a sword, which he uses as a magic wand”.
