Zanzibar the Magician
Zanzibar the Magician was a fez-wearing superheroic magician, a version of whom existed in Reality Z-25 31-H.
He was a part of the alliance of superheroes who tried to fight back against Ro-Man's attempted invasion of Earth in Buranda in the late 2000s. During the battle, he nearly fell to Ro-Man's giant reptiles. Though putting in a valiant effort, the heroes were ultimately unable to overcome the aliens on their own, with Earth only being saved by the intervention of Stardust the Super-Wizard. Behind the scenes
The character of Zanzibar the Magician originally appeared in superhero comics published by the Fox Features Syndicate, and is in the public domain. Jay Epps's depiction of Zanzibar in COMIC: Ruthless Ro-Man leaned strongly on the preexisting costuming resemblance that existed between him and the Eleventh Doctor as portrayed by Matt Smith, a reference made explicit in the author's notes for the page, where Epps quipped that “Zanzibar has a fez, so that makes him cool” (mirroring the Eleventh Doctor's famous claim that “fezzes are cool”).
