Temp

Temps, an acronym for “transdimensional electro-memetic parasites”, were defined by the Queen of the Black Market as “sentient quantum shifts in the root data of pandimensional reality”.

They were living knowledge of variable sentient, whose goal was to spread themselves as widely as possible. They could not take root in a living mind without permission; hence, most Temps lingered in non-sentient data-storage devices like computers and mobile phones, trying to trick their living owners into letting them in. Few seasoned dimensional travellers were fooled by such tricks, however, to the extent that a solicitation by a Temp was considered the interdimensional equivalent of a “Nigerian prince” email scam: a nuisance to all but absolute beginners.
