The Oubliette was a Jenny Everywhere short story written by Jeanne Morningstar. It was the fourth installment of the 30 Days of Jenny series.

Plot

Jenny Everywhere and Laura are thrown by a group of guards into the Oubliette, an “inescapable prison”. Laura suggests that Jenny teleport the two of them to freedom, forcing Jenny to admit that her shifting powers don't work anything like so conveniently — though she assures Laura that she has a plan…

After posting the story on Ficly, Jeanne Morningstar commented:

This was inspired by a story I read where Jenny was basically using her teleporting power as a deus ex machina. I wrote this as my take on why that wouldn’t be the case.

I couldn’t quite fit the solution I had in mind into this story, so before I write that I’m going to make it into a sort of challenge. How would YOU deal with this? I’ll give my answer tomorrow. (Well I’m pretty sure no one is paying attention to these, but I don’t care.)
