Blue Beetle was a superhero with a blue costume, a version of whom existed in Reality Z-25 31-H.

He acted as the leader of the superhero team who tried to fight back against Ro-Man's attempted invasion of Earth in Buranda in the late 2000s. Though putting in a valiant effort, the heroes were ultimately unable to overcome the aliens on their own, with Earth only being saved by the intervention of Stardust the Super-Wizard. (COMIC: Ruthless Ro-Man)

Behind the scenes

The character of Dan Garrett, alias Blue Beetle originally appeared in superhero comics published by the Fox Features Syndicate starting in 1939. He was rebooted by Charlton in 1964 and then replaced in 1966 by the same publisher with an in-universe successor whose civilian identity was Ted Kord. All three original versions of the Beetle are currently in the public domain; it is not clear which of them the Reality Z-25 31-H version of the Beetle seen in Ruthless Ro-Man is intended to most closely resemble. Notably, although the copyright to Blue Beetle has elapsed, the trademark for the name was acquired by DC, who incorporated Garrett and Kord into their own continuity and introduced a number of variants of the character. Consequently, most other comic publishers wishing to use the character in a major enough capacity that a trademark dispute might emerge have resorted to using alternative names for Dan Garrett's superhero alias, such as Dynamite Entertainment's “Big Blue”.
