Dimensional shift engine

A dimensional shift engine was a mechanical device which could be used to allow a vehicle to shift. They were apparently sometimes paired with Moriarty guides.
One universe's Jenny Everywhere, though capable of shifting by herself, kept a dimensional shift engine, complete with a manual, in the basement of her apartment building. Professor Awesome found it and read through the manual, even though Jenny tried to keep its existence a secret from him.
The dream spinner, a partially magic-based interdimensional vehicle built for Genevieve, Princess of Everywhere by Wu in one universe, contained a shift engine, which Professor Awesome recognised as such while trying to repair the craft. (PROSE: Pit Stop)
