The Great Glass Elevator

From Jenny Everywhere Wiki

The Great Glass Elevator was a mysterious elevator made of glass which crash-landed into the west garden of the Strange and Wonderful House. With three out of four panels intact, the lawn gnomes decided to repair it and incorporate it into the House to supplement the Stairwell, much to the excitement of the House itself. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: Elevator)

At some point, a troll got stuck inside the Elevator, causing much commotion. The notoriously moody Fabulous Salon transformed itself into a black room filled with roses in protest until the situation was rectified. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Fabulous Salon)

Taking the Elevator up to the Theater Room was one of the necessary steps to reaching the Roof. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Roof)

Behind the scenes

The Great Glass Elevator originated in Roald Dahl's two Willy Wonka novels, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Prior to the publication of Elevator, its author Elsha Hawk had joked in the comments of The Stairwell that she would “rather take the Elevator”, “which no one [had] written yet”. She had added, “I vote it be glass like Willy Wonka’s”.
