In one universe, Philip K. Dick was hit by a Logos beam carelessly transmitted at the Earth by the inhabitants of the Sirius star system, who were trying to pass on enlightenment to humanity. Although intended to spread the wisdom he'd received, Dick instead became mentally ill. In his diminished state he made “three limp, desperate attempts” to disseminate the message, then died.
