Pantomimia was a world which worked according to the laws of pantomime. As such, it had “flat trees, flat bushes, sometimes flat animals, sometimes humanoid animals, sometimes small animals with no body below the waist”, and its inhabitants, the Pantomimians, were incapable of grasping if there was somebody “behind them”, even if they were told, until it was dramatically appropriate that they do so.
