In one universe, Herb Bonfiglio and his wife Val were two of the permanent residents of the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort. They were both of Polynesian descent, though Val was slightly darker-skinned than Herb. When Jenny Everywhere first spent some time at the Resort, the Bonfiglios enjoyed her recounting of past adventures (such as her face-off against Faceless Cyborg Ninja) while having a drink at one of the Resort's picnic tables. He later joined the other residents in disguising himself as a ghost to get back at Tex Tyler for attempting to scare the nudists off. (COMIC: Ghost Story)

Herb Bonfiglio’s social circle includes Herb Wintly; they and others at the resort have occasionally made comments or jokes about their names.

Behind the scenes

Herb Bonfiglio was one of the recurring background characters of the webcomics Loxie & Zoot and The Bare Pit. His profile on the official Bare Pit cast list read:

Herb retired from building work a few years ago and now lives at the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort with his wife Val. While usually easy-going, he gets on his "nudist soapbox" at the first sign of anti-naturism sentiment. Top amongst his favourite pastimes is playing petanque. He loves playing his piano accordion despite the protests of those who say it is cursed.
