The Identity Dispersal System, or I.D.S., was a device built by the 38167th Universe's Jenny Nowhere, adapted from Laura Drake's designs for the earlier Dimensional Consciousness Maximizer.
Nature
Resembling a hairdresser's chair, the I.D.S. allowed whoever sat in it to temporarily connect with the minds of 999 of any other individual's nearest counterparts in the Multiverse. In the case of an incarnation of a multiversal hive mind like Jenny Everywhere or Jenny Nowhere, this would permanently connect the user to that hive mind. (PROSE: Family Business)
History
Years after being turned into a version of Jenny Nowhere by the D.C.M., the vengeful Nowhere improved on Laura's d to build the Identity Dispersal System, which functioned similarly but could connect the user to anyone's 999 closest counterparts, rather than just the user's own. She planned to use this to turn people, most readily Sophie Everytime, into versions of Jenny Nowhere, but this did not work as expected on Sophie due to her having enough mental fortitude to escape erasure, and jump into Nowhere's body just as Nowhere jumped into hers. Before long, Nowhere admitted defeat and agreed to switch back before leaving, abandoning the I.D.S. behind. (PROSE: Family Business)
