“The Great Spirit” or “the Great Mystery” is a term broadly applied to several Native American religious concepts. Although often conflated with a monotheistic God in light of Christianisation, the term has also historically been used to refer to some aspect of the transcendental nature of all life, rather than a personified, individualised ultimate deity.
