First Great Salamandyr War

The First Great War was the first great conflict between the Order of the Automata, based in Automatia, and the Salamandyrs, based in the Salamandyr Dimension.

Though the Order of the Automata ultimately emerged victorious, forcing the Salamandyrs to retreat back to Salamandyria and leave Automatia alone, the Ancient One was destroyed in a surprise attack at the very end of the War, before he could unveil a secret plan he claimed to have developed. In fact, the Ancient One, at that point, fully expected his side to lose, and had only made up the story of the secret plan to boost morale, though he had developed a plan which would allow him to return in the Order's hour of need years down the line if he should be killed, which indeed came to pass — though by the time he actually returned, the threat had already been dealt with by the Order thanks to the help of Marksmanship-522.
