Origin of the Shifter! was a short Jenny Everywhere story written by Ununnilium. Despite its title, it did not actually posit an origin story for the character, but merely a comical, joking suggestion of an origin for the nickname of “The Shifter” itself.

Plot

As they both lie in bed attempting to sleep, Jenny Everywhere keeps bothering Laura buy tossing and turning. When Laura wakes her up to call her out on it, a smirking Jenny tells her that she is, after all, "the Shifter". This annoys Laura sufficiently that she throws a pillow at her.
