When a visitor to the Strange and Wonderful House wandered into the Basement and nearly died, they were saved by a giant, gleaming robot. It had “Cold War-era bulbs in place of eyes”, and a surprisingly expressive ‘mouth’ made of “the green waves of an oscilloscope”. Catching them in a grip that was at once hard and gentle, the robot carried them back up the stairs and dropped them off at the door before disappearing, incredibly fast, back into the depths.
