Gargoyles were a classic element of gothic architecture, taking the form of grotesque statues. In some universes, living, or otherwise animate, creatures by that name existed.
In one universe, when renting a new apartment, Junter and Ibdis were confused by the mixed signals of the building having gargoyles, only for the ominous effect to be undercut by one of them holding a bunch of daisies, and the other a “Welcome, Roomies” sign. (COMIC: Gargoyles and Daisies)
One of Alistair Neezley's tall tales involved being chased through the Glowing Caves of Swaatch by a Gargoyle. (PROSE: Misadventures in the Interdimensional Black Market)
