Grigori (Our Strange and Wonderful House)

An angel apparently named Grigori was one of the Gardeners of the Conservatory of the Strange and Wonderful House, evidently a version of the Garden of Eden. He appeared as a man wearing body armour under a long coat, camouflaged with paints in green and brown and various twigs and leaves, and wielded a steel spade like a spear. After the Mad Gardener morphed into a demon while trying to kill an intruder in the garden, (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Madman) Grigori stepped in, stating that his fellow Gardener had “succumbed to the madness”. Saving the visitor, Grigori began dueling the Mad Gardener, (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Saviour) and beheaded him. He then knelt over the fallen's body, his spade “held like a Templar’s sword”, stating: “Let your body feed the garden, my brother. As in death, also in life.” Grigori then led the visitor away, warning him that the scent of blood would draw out more of the dangerous entities dwelling in the garden. Behind the scenes

“Grigori” is often used to transliterate the Greek term for “Watchers” used to refer to a class of angels. As such, although the angel who kills the Mad Gardener is referred to as “Grigori” in narration, it is possible that this stems from the unreliable narrator misunderstanding the Mad Gardener's words, and that the angel is simply one of the Grigori.
