In one universe, Loxie Smith was the raven-haired wife of Zoot Jensen. Together, the two owned and operated the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort; practicing as she preached, Loxie usually wore nothing more than a necklace, bracelet and flip-flops.
Biography
Loxie and Zoot's business was often threatened by their bigoted neighbour Tex Tyler. Jenny Everywhere once shifted into the middle of the Resort, and, although Loxie and her husband originally assumed her to be either mad or simply concussed from the shock of her rough parachute-landing, she ended up helping them foil Tyler's latest scheme.
Since this scheme was a classic supernatural hoax, with Tyler dressing up as a vengeful ghost, Jenny suggested that the Koala Bay Bares use body paint and sound effects to disguise themselves as a cohort of nudist spooks intent on taking their “wayward sibling” Tyler back to the Underworld. Loxie participated in the prank, which had the desired effect of scaring Tyler off, and after which Jenny left that universe. (COMIC: Ghost Story)
Some time later, after she was revealed as a Fairy, stranded interdimensional traveller Abúi was brought to meet Loxie and Zoot, who told her about their encounter with another, more competent multiversal traveller in the form of Jenny. They agreed to ask Jenny to help Abúi get back home if and when they found a way to contact Jenny, and told her to stick around in Koala Bay until then. (COMIC: Incognito)
Shortly thereafter she had a surprise when she thought Tex Tyler had returned with yet another zany scheme, only to discover that Sven Allestädes was a real person resembling Tyler's earlier disguise. The next day, however, after Sven had left, she began to wonder if it really had been Tex after all. (COMIC: Enchanted)
Much later, Jenny showed up at Loxie and Zoot's house without warning, shifting in through their bathroom mirror. Delighted by the surprise visit, the two gave her a tour of the Resort, updating her on what had happened since she was gone. They then went for a swim in the pool, interrupted by the arrival of another interdimensional traveller, a returning Abúi, who had brought friends; Loxie amended an earlier statement about the Koala Bay being the “most peaceful place” in the universe, stating that it wasn't always peaceful, but was still definitely the nicest place in the universe. (COMIC: The Nicest Place in the Universe)
Behind the scenes
Loxie was one of the main characters of the webcomics Loxie & Zoot and The Bare Pit. Her full name was not mentioned in COMIC: Ghost Story. Her profile on the official Bare Pit cast list read:
Loxie wasn't a nudist until she met her future husband Zoot. Despite some initial doubts and apprehension, her experiments with naturism found her falling in love with the lifestyle. This did not go over well with her very conservative family! Loxie worked as a professional photographer before becoming a co-owner/manager of the Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort with Zoot. |
