Incognito was a story arc in Grace Crowley's webcomic The Bare Pit which crossed over with another webcomic, Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan.
It was written and illustrated by Reinder Dijkhuis, the creator of Rogues of Clwyd-Rhan, and prominently mentioned Jenny Everywhere (who had previously visited the setting in COMIC: Ghost Story).
As per the usual for the comic, owing to taking place in a naturist camp, the story's visuals are heavily NSFW, although the actual storyline is otherwise family-friendly.
Contents
Plot
When a fairy from another universe called Abúi accidentally ends up stranded in Koala Bay Bares Naturist Resort, she grows to human size and attempts to pass for a normal human guest. Though she makes a valiant effort, Zinni Lee, a little girl who caught a glimpse of her at her normal size when she first arrived, keeps trying to convince her mother of the truth. Ultimately, Abúi proves unable to keep her pointy ears and dragonfly-wings hidden, and must discuss her predicament with the owners of the park: Loxie and Zoot.
Worldbuilding
Jenny
- Loxie and Zoot tell Abúi about the incarnation of Jenny they previously met.
- They find that Jenny isn't in their world's phonebook, although “some nutter” did create a website about her called Whoisjenny.com.
Universes
- This story takes place entirely within Loxie and Zoot's home universe.
- Abúi is native to one universe.
Continuity
- Loxie and Zoot met Jenny Everywhere in COMIC: Ghost Story.
- COMIC: Enchanted follows on directly from this story, focusing on an attempt to get Abúi back home and bringing in a shifter to help (albeit not Jenny herself).
Behind the scenes
Read online
The ten pages of Incognito were originally available on the Bare Pit website. Although this webcomic is now offline, it remains available on the Internet Archive, allowing us to reproduce the original ten pages here (albeit censored for nudity).
However, a version of Incognito with minor revisions was uploaded in 2012 by Dijkhuis as a prelude to Abúi's Travels and is still online.
