The “Parallax Universe” was home to a Jenny Everywhere who lived in a comfortable apartment and collected toasters. It was also home to teenaged mad scientist Professor Awesome (PROSE: Paying It Forward) and to Jenny's friend Kim, who had powers consistent with vampirism. (PROSE: Parallax) Indeed, vampires were somewhat common in this world, though their existence was not known to the general public. (PROSE: Camera Shy) The underground world was also home to Mole People and Lizard Kingdoms. (PROSE: Misunderstandings) Santa Claus may or may not have been real in this world. (PROSE: Watch the Skies)
Behind the scenes
This universe remained nameless until it was officially, if informally, dubbed as “the Parallax Universe” on April 1st, 2023 by Scott Sanford via an edit to the table of contents of Scott Sanford's Jenny Everywhere stories. The name is taken from the first story set in this continuity, PROSE: Parallax, and has no known in-universe significance, with Sanford reflecting on the Jenny Everywhere Discord:
It's a good name, even if I never revisit that particular story, (…) which is a good place to jump into the continuity. And it's still a story that holds up long after I wrote it, which you can appreciate is not true for every piece of art we produce. “Parallax Universe” is good. |
