Plot

Meeting a bored-looking Jenny Everywhere, a young man called Ed evidences skewed priorities, asking Jenny why she doesn't use her powers to “zip all around the world watching reruns of Law & Order all day long”. Finally, as they part, it transpires that Ed is also confused about the meaning of the phrase “open-source superhero”…

Worldbuilding

Jenny

  • This story features a incarnation of Jenny who wears black jacket with white lapels. She defines herself as a superhero, noting that she is usually too busy fighting evil to use her shifting powers for personal enjoyment.
  • This Jenny possesses Fourth Wall Awareness, introducing herself as “an open-source superhero”.

Universes

  • This story takes place in a nondescript universe to which Ed is native.

Behind the scenes

Read online

These two strips were originally released on the Sob Story website, which is now offline. However, one strip was saved up on the Shifter Archive, on a web page which is itself offline but had been saved by the Internet Archive. The inked artwork of the other could be found as illustration for an interview about the comic — thus enabling us to reunite both halves here. In 2022, the grayscale version of Page 2 was found in a private file collection.
