This ghost is an obvious parody of the ghostly antagonist of the ''Ring'' series of horror movies, whose ''modus operandi'' was to kill anyone who watched a cursed VHS tape a week after they did so, giving them a threatening phone-call simply saying “A week” right after they watched the tape to warn and intimidate them. In the original Japanese franchise, the character's name was Sadako Yamamura, while in the continuity of the American remakes, she was renamed Samara Morgan.

A ghost speaking Japanese in “a soft, harsh voice” once called the Multidimensional Finders Service's Red Interdimensional Telephone by mistake while trying to phone someone who had the same number in a different universe, and who had activated her curse by watching a cursed VHS tape, which allegedly included something about a horse.

When it became clear that Jenny Over-There had no context for the “week” she was talking about, the ghost apologetically hung up, with the laborious conversation prompting her to give up on finding her original victim; she stated that she would go and take a nap in “[her] wishing well” instead. Behind the scenes

This ghost is an obvious parody of the ghostly antagonist of the Ring series of horror movies, whose modus operandi was to kill anyone who watched a cursed VHS tape a week after they did so, giving them a threatening phone-call simply saying “A week” right after they watched the tape to warn and intimidate them. In the original Japanese franchise, the character's name was Sadako Yamamura, while in the continuity of the American remakes, she was renamed Samara Morgan. Having died after being thrown down the well, the character primarily haunts said well when not enacting her curse, hence the allusion to a “wishing well” being this ghost's home.
