Copyright was a status whereby a concept was legally controlled by a copyright-holder, and could not be used without their permission.
On a day when the Rule of Funny made the Fourth Wall particularly fluid, Lord Grallyx temporarily edited the Paragraph as recorded on the Jenny Everywhere Wiki in order to turn Jenny Everywhere into a copyrighted character, resulting in the Interdimensional Copyright Office attempting to arrest her for appearing in the reality she was currently visiting without the permission of her alleged copyright-holder, Grallyx himself. However, Jenny was able to distract them long enough to change the Wiki back again and escape back into the public domain. (PROSE: The Wiki Adventures of Lord Grallyx)
A Talisman of Restriction was a magical device, taking the form of a token which had a red copyright symbol etched on it. Open-source characters were unable to hold them, repelling them like magnets of the same polarity. (PROSE: Fragment: A & E)
