Tash Spicer, who came from a fairly mundane, modern universe, was familiar with the tale of the Emperor's New Clothes, concerning an Emperor who was tricked by a group of con artists into buying clothes which they said only the most refined minds could perceive. Naturally, the Emperor could not see them, and strolled into a parade entirely naked, refusing to admit that even he could not see the garments.
In another universe, most of the story occurred as Tash knew it, but the tailors had been truthful and the magic cloth really did work as they said it did; it was, however, still quite poor judgment to wear it to the parade, as most of the crowd couldn't see the clothes any more than the Emperor, leading to events playing out much like in the tale, with a child finally saying aloud that the Emperor was naked. Also in the crowd was shifter Sven Allestädes, one of a few people to actually see the magic clothes. Impressed with their work, Allestädes later tracked down the tailors and bought several items of clothing with different magical properties from them. (COMIC: Enchanted)
