Late Night Queueing was a standalone comic story written by Rob Cave and drawn by Nelson Evergreen, in which Jenny Everywhere cameos briefly. It is believed to have been the first complete story featuring Jenny Everywhere to be released, although Jenny starred in Cars, an earlier story which was penciled but never inked.
The narrative was primarily unrelated to Jenny Everywhere, circulating around Steve, an individual eager for sex who gets stuck in a very long queue.

Plot
Late at night at a convenience store in an unnamed city in an unnamed universe, Steve picks up a packet of contraceptives, and celebrates the fact that his girlfriend Debs wishes to see him and tell him something important, assuming that she wishes to have sex with him. When he goes to pay, however, he sees the queue is incredibly lengthy, and his glee turns to despair. After a while of waiting, Steve calms himself by imagining what he and Debs will get up to when he returns home, before being interrupted by a man. Meanwhile, an old lady reaches the checkout, and begins paying very slowly in coins. Steve is angered by this occurrence, and considers murdering the old lady so he doesn't have to wait. Just as the old lady finishes paying, the cashier dies of cardiac arrest, and this is the final straw for Steve. However, he suddenly realises that he does not need the cashier to pay, and can just pay by himself. Just as he is about to, Debs enters, having been passing the convenience store. She is angry with Steve for not turning up, and for assuming that she wanted to have sex, as she in fact wanted to break up with him, as she finds him "profoundly dull", and a "sexist shit". Steve, dejected, decides to have sex with the man from earlier in the queue he talked to, thinking that it is "better than nothing".
Worldbuilding
Jenny Everywhere
- One incarnation of Jenny Everywhere is in the queue for the convenience store.
Universes
- This story entirely takes place in one universe, home to a city.
Other
- The brand of contraceptives Steve picks up is Rubba.
Continuity
- A woman in the queue has a copy of the magazine Anorak Boys. One incarnation of Jenny Everywhere would later be seen holding a copy of this magazine in Name's Not Down.
- Background characters in this comic included an unnamed tentacular abomination inexplicably queueing along in the middle of the human shoppers, who involuntarily startled a human shopper. The two characters would later reappear in Name's Not Down, again queueing together, but now holding affectionately onto each other as they waited in-line outside Club Twart. Evergreen, who included the characters on his own iniative, would later explicate his intent on Discord on June 27, 2023:
Enjoyed drawing them, so shoved them in here too. (…) I do remember thinking wouldn’t it be sweet if, after an awkward start, the two of them got together and went on to spend all their time in queues because it reminded them of how they first met. |
