Volksstrum was one of an appalling number of non-copyrighted Nazi supervillains whom the Man in Grey inadvertently left on a list of possible candidates for employment at the Multidimensional Finders Service until Jenny Over-There pointed them out to him. The Man in Grey did not clock on to the fact that Volksstrum was in fact a Nazi until Jenny pointed out the Iron Cross he wore as part of his costume on the photograph included in his file. (PROSE: Open Sourcing)

Behind the scenes

Volksstrum was created in December 2014 on the Free Universe Forum by Brandon Longstreth as an open-source character. Using the character does not require a disclaimer. The character concept was described as follows:

Volkssturm was one of the last superhuman efforts of the Nazis. His super strength, flight, and control over thunderstorms were powered by the collective consciousness of the German people. He had the possibility of being an incredibly powerful being but as the German Army fought a losing war, the will of the people suffered and his power disappeared.
