Jungle Romance was a one-page Kaza's Mate, Gwenna comic by Jay Epps, acting as a Valentine's Day special and interlude to the then-ongoing Nula! Naked and Alone! storyline. Styled like a vintage cover, it playfully reimagined the comic as a 1950s American romance comic book, and thus constituted a single snapshot of an otherwise-unseen adventure.

Plot

Early in Kaza and Gwenna's romance in the Naked Jungle, Gwenna's father has tracked her down together with her “civilised”, venal fiancé Dirk. With a shotgun in hand, he demands that she put her clothes on and leave the Jungle to marry Dirk, while a tearful Gwen tries to explain to him that Dirk is only interested in the family fortune, and furthermore, that she and Kaza are in fact married.

  • In the comments of the story's upload on the Kaza's Mate, Gwenna website, Jay Epps confirmed that the story is “supposed to be early in their relationship, before Gwenna becomes a kick ass jungle girl”, tying in with the backstory given in COMIC: A Matter of Image.
