Jenny Everywhere once bought a contrafibulator from Sylvester Shoebill for twice the market price, not knowing that it was actually faulty. (PROSE: The Grand Multiverse Hotel)
Behind the scenes
“Contrafibularity” was a nonsense word originally made up by Richard Curtis for Blackadder, and also used (in the form of “Friction contrafibulator”) in his Doctor Who script Vincent and the Doctor (TV story). As contra means against and the fibula is one of the major bones of the leg, the word sneakily refers to “pulling someone's leg”. Hence, it appears that Sylvester Shoebill ironically deceived Jenny about the value of a ‘deceiving machine’.
