In Universe Gemini, Dogzilla was a mutated, semi-reptilian, building-sized dog.
Dogzilla was the creation of “one of the local mad scientists” from Zed Hudson's home town, who tested an attempt at a “simple growth formula” on a puppy, only to realise he'd instead created a “hypermutation formula” which turned the puppy into a “gigantic, scaly, fire-breathing, radioactive-pooping monstrosity”. Though not malevolent, the puppy retained a playful, excitable and inquisitive temperament, thus causing headaches for Zed and other superheroes whenever he wandered into town. (COMIC: Zed Vs. Dogzilla)
Behind the scenes
Dogzilla's backstory was explained in the author's notes of COMIC: Zed Vs. Dogzilla.
His name and the design of the ridges on his back and reptilian tale are a clear allusion to Godzilla.
