The Children of the Nexus, also known as Custodians, Sliders or Shifters, were a small number of beings in the Multiverse.
Born with the ability to shift easily from one world to the next, they were given access to advanced technology and tasked with protecting the structural integrity of the Multiverse, for example investigating and mending tears that opened from one world to another. In theory, Children of the Nexus were all “each as unique as the universe [they] came from”, although ironically, one Child of the Nexux was none other than an incarnation of Jenny Everywhere, as yet unaware of her other selves' existence.
Before they entered active duty, Children of the Nexus were also made to make oaths of non-interference in the development of whatever civilisations they might encounter on their missions. However, this was not really enforced, and Jenny at least often flouted these particular rules. (COMIC: Jenny Everywhere and the Dark Bishop)
