According to one account, in one universe, Ulysses Dumas “knew a guy” at the Red Cross. This took care of the problem of how to ethically supply blood for himself after he was turned into a vampire against his will. (PROSE: Camera Shy)
Behind the scenes
The nature of Ulysses Dumas's source for ethically-sourced blood differs between the original version of Camera Shy and its 2021 repost; in the original, he “knows a guy at the Red Cross”, while in later sources, he “knows a guy at a kosher butcher's”. This change was presumably effected because of the potential plot hole in a vampire allergic to crosses somehow having contacts at the Red Cross.
