When Lady Elshanor was drafted by the Strange and Wonderful House to pass judgment on a man who'd stolen from the Fountain of Youth in the Throne Room, she used a trap-door to cast him into Pandemonium, (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Throne Room) which was part of Hell. It was close to the centre of the Earth, and had its centre a magnificent golden palace, “wrought from the resources the depths of the Earth brought”, “marvellously and lovingly crafted from the labour of angels”. In the main hall, where the man Rohinder fell, stood the high, golden throne of the Devil. Rohinder reflected, when he arrived in Pandemonium, that it was just as Milton had described it. (PROSE: Our Strange and Wonderful House: The Throne Room)

Behind the scenes

In John Milton's Paradise Lost, Pandæmonium is the capital city of Hell.
