The Vampira Show was a TV series which aired on Los Angeles television between 1954 and 1955.
It primarily served as a medium for TV broadcast of preexisting horror movies, but was bookended by short narrative segments with the original “horror host”, Vampira, a charismatic female vampire played by Maila Nurmi. Although The Vampira Show (and by extension the Vampira character) are not in the public domain, it is notable that Nurmi portrayed a highly comparable “Vampire Girl” in the legendary “bad film” Plan 9 from Outer Space, which is in fact in the public domain.
The character of Vampira made an unlicensed cameo in the Necroomies comic strip Real Estate-Related Pun alongside the Addams Family and the Munsters.
