Liches were, in some universes, a type of undead creature. Like Vampire, a Lich was generally intelligent and possessed of free will, but remained visibly corpse-like, and was in an important magical sense “not alive”.

In one universe, there existed a position of Lich Emperor, which was much sought-after. A Lich called Junter became the Lich Emperor after poisoning his predecessor's soda. Junter was an accomplished, if scatter-brained, spellcaster, who had studied at a Wizard Academy in his youth, and he retained his magical abilities as a Lich. He had grayish skin and the whites of his eyes had turned purple, but, setting aside scars and seams, he did not otherwise look inhuman, retaining rounded ears in contrast to a Vampire's pointed ones. By the time Junter overthrew him, on the other hand, the preceding Lich Emperor had decayed into a mere animate skeleton. Like Vampires, Liches were resistant to magics such as a Rune of Wanting.
